Settling Workplace Disputes and Hiring Keynote Speakers

Spread the love

A business manager will have many things on their mind, and many of them involve the fact that their employees and customers alike are human beings, with real human needs. It can be easy to forget this while looking over spreadsheets or budgets, but employee happiness is something to take very seriously. After all, many of today’s workers quit their jobs not because of low pay, but because they felt neglected or overlooked, or they saw no opportunities for personal growth at their places of work. Worse yet, some employees or managers are known to bully or abuse one another, and this could very well lead to serious workplace conflict, a high turnover rate, or even lawsuits and litigation. Workplace mediation services can be hired whenever workplace disputes come along, to quickly resolve the situation. Meanwhile, hiring keynote inspirational speakers are a great way to rally client and consumer interest in the business’s product or services, by means of educational and inspirational presentations and speeches at trade shows or conventions.

Hiring Keynote Speakers

Hiring a keynote speaker can do a lot of good, especially if no in-house employees have the presentation skills or charisma needed to make an effective presentation like this. In fact, some keynote speakers are well-known in the business world for their skills, and many different businesses may seek out their services. As for hiring a keynote speaker, there are a few basic factors for a manager to keep in mind. For one thing, they should find a keynote speaker who is not only well suited for the job, but also available during the necessary time frame, and some keynote speakers are quite busy. Also, some may charge higher fees than others. A keynote speaker’s fees may cover not only services rendered, but also plane ticket costs, hotel booking expenses, and the like. Flying a keynote speaker a great distance to make a presentation may be more expensive than hiring someone local. Lastly, bear in mind the compatibility between the speaker’s own personality and demographic vs that of the expected audience. Significant differences in age, level of formality, personal income, and other factors may mean the audience is not very receptive to what the speaker says.

Settling Employment Issues at Work

Any number of employment issues may harm a company’s performance and income, and low employee retention rates are a common issue. A worker may quit their job if, as mentioned earlier, they see no real opportunities for personal or professional growth at their place of work. Worse yet, employment issues often take the form of verbal or physical harassment of other employees, and naturally, a bullied employee may quit or file a lawsuit if their grievances are not addressed. Managers with poor management skills or disagreeable personalities may drive some employees to quit or transfer elsewhere, or at least fail to draw out the best in their employees. All of this can hurt the company’s bottom line and overall performance.

To settle such employment issues, outside help can be hired if needed. An executive coach is not exactly a personal trainer, but rather, a neutral party who will follow around the client manager. That client may use the coach as a sounding board, and get suggestions on their performance when they ask. Often, new managers will hire these coaches, or a manager who is struggling with their job or has a bad personality without realizing it.

What about workplace conflict? Such abuse can take varying forms, all the way from verbal or written harassment all the way to hateful imagery, unfair denial of raises or promotions, or even physical violence. Such abuse may be prompted by the victim’s real or perceived attributes, such as sexual orientation, ethnicity, religious faith, physical disability, or mental disabilities, such as high-functioning autism. The victim is urged to refrain from retaliation, and instead note the names of all instigators, when and where the incident took place, and what was said, done, or written. The victim may relay all this to mediators and the HR department, and keep a cool head to prevent emotional outbursts that may sabotage their case. In the most serious cases, a lawsuit can be filed, and lawyers can be hired.
