Securing loads with heavy equipment chains is crucial for safety and compliance in industries such as construction, logging, and transportation. Here are three tips to ensure that your load is secured properly:

1. Select the Right Chain Grade

Chains are categorized by grades which indicate their strength and durability. The most common grades used for heavy loads are Grade 70, 80, and 100, with Grade 100 offering the highest tensile strength.

Choose a chain grade that matches the weight and type of your load. For instance, Grade 80 and 100 chains are often preferred in environments where higher load capacity and environmental resistance are required, such as in adverse weather conditions or when transporting extremely heavy machinery.

2. Use the Appropriate Chain Size

The diameter of your chain should correspond to the weight and size of the load to ensure it can handle the load without risk of breakage. Each chain is rated for a specific working load limit (WLL), which must not be exceeded. It’s essential to calculate the total weight of your load and use a chain with a WLL that can handle at least that weight.
